Facing a $230 million budget shortfall, Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami plans to cut nearly 1,000 jobs and close an ED, according to a report by CBS 4.
The 1,550-bed hospital said the shortfall was due to lower government funding and more uninsured patients, but a member of the Miami-Dade Board of Commissioners, which oversees Jackson Memorial, accused it of poorly managing billings and collections.
