Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Wake Forest Baptist Health has begun construction on its West Campus in Bermuda Run, N.C., according to a Fox 8 report.
The campus will include a 101,000-square-foot outpatient services building that will house an emergency department, diagnostic imaging and outpatient surgery. The campus will also feature a 60,000-square-foot medical office building.
Phase one of the project, which includes grading the site and constructing the two buildings, is estimated to cost $79 million and is scheduled for completion next fall. Phase two will include developing hospital beds and is expected to be completed in 2017.
Approximately half of the land is designated for commercial development, such as banks, restaurants, hotels and shops, according to the report.
