U.S. and Mexico Adopt Health Information Exchange Guidelines for Emergencies

The United States and Mexico announced at a World Health Organization assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, shared guidelines for coordinating information exchange during public health emergencies, according to an AHA News Now report.

The guidelines are intended to complement international health regulations, which encourage neighboring countries to work together on epidemiologic events and on public health issues.

Mexico's National Institute of Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference is also a new member of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Laboratory Response Network. It joins Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom as part of the CDC's prevention lab.
