Under Board Pressure, Grady CEO Rescinds Firing of Chief Medical Officer

Grady Memorial Hospital CEO Michael Young has rescinded the Nov. 24 termination of his chief medical officer, after Grady board members said only they could take such action, according to a report by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Mr. Young reversed his dismissal of Curtis Lewis, MD, in a Dec. 16 letter that, in its entirety, said, “We look forward to Grady continuing to move forward in 2010 and wish to have you assist us in these endeavors.”

Dr. Lewis said he was unaware that Mr. Young was unhappy with his performance, was happy to be reinstated and intended to foster good relations with the CEO.
