The Hospital of Central Connecticut, with a total of 414 beds, announced plans for a cooperative relationship with Hartford HealthCare, parent of 867-bed Hartford Hospital, according to the Hartford Business Journal.
Both parties said the relationship would not be a full merger and it still needs state and federal regulatory approval.
Under the deal, the Hospital of Central Connecticut, with campuses in New Britain and Southington, would still be independently managed but would benefit from resources and efficiencies at Hartford HealthCare, which runs six in-patient facilities with 1,373 beds.
