Mr. Fetter noted that industry groups have been split over some of the details of healthcare reform, such as payments and taxes, but overall, most support the efforts of healthcare reform to expand coverage.
Treating uninsured patients and ensuring that they were covered are the biggest concerns of hospitals, according to Mr. Fetter. "When you get to some of the details of how it's being done and other provisions that might be in the bill, we might have differences of point," he said in the report.
Mr. Fetter also noted the increasing issue of illegal immigrants who seek treatment at hospitals and criticized Congress for not addressing the issue.
