Knoxville, Tenn.-based physician outsourcing firm TeamHealth's revenue in the second quarter of 2012 rose 18.5 percent from $427.2 million in the second quarter of 2011 to $506.3 million.
TeamHealth recorded $14.2 million in profit, a 16.2 percent drop from $16.8 million in the same quarter a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA increased 14.6 percent to $55.1 million.
TeamHealth's second quarter profit took a hit due to increased expenses. Higher professional liability expenses, liability costs and other administrative expenses all ate at the profit margins. However, increased business from fee-for-service contracts and other revenue offset some of the decreased net earnings.
