The Senate Finance Committee will conduct the final confirmation hearing tomorrow for Sylvia Mathews Burwell, the Obama administration's nominee to replace Kathleen Sebelius as HHS secretary.
After tomorrow's hearing, Ms. Burwell's nomination will move to the Senate floor for a vote. Last week, Ms. Burwell had her first confirmation hearing before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. During the hearing, two influential Senate Republicans — John McCain of Arizona and Richard Burr of North Carolina — expressed support for her, and it seems likely that she will be confirmed.
During last week's hearing, Ms. Burwell called the technical problems that plagued the federal exchange site, HealthCare.gov, following its launch "unacceptable" and said repairing any remaining issues would be a top priority for her as the head of HHS.
