St. Andrew's Hospital in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, will close its emergency department, effective April 2013, according to a San Francisco Gate report.
Officials with parent company Lincoln County Healthcare said lack of patient volume drove the decision to shut down the hospital's emergency services. The department will be replaced with an urgent care center. Local residents in need of emergency care can seek those services at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta.
