Sen. Mitch McConnell to Pursue PPACA Repeal After Calls for His Resignation

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said he remains an "unapologetic advocate for the complete repeal" of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act after conservative political action committee Restore America's Voice Foundation called for his resignation, according to a report from The Hill.

Yesterday, Sen. McConnell told Republican colleagues that he did not want the party to vote again on the repeal of the PPACA until after the November elections. Restore America's Voice Foundation said it would "unleash" 2.3 million activists to organize for his resignation if he did not show support for immediate repeal of the bill, according to the report.

A spokesperson for Sen. McConnell said he is committed to the repeal of the healthcare law and is discussing with other GOP leaders on what steps to take next.

In February 2011, Sen. McConnell brought an amendment to the Senate floor to repeal the PPACA, which was rejected 51-47.
