Revision of Official Estimate Puts Health Reform Cost Over $1 Trillion

A new revision of the cost of the health reform law puts the price tag at more than $1 trillion over 10 years, with the addition of $105 billion in discretionary spending that Congress still would have to approve, according to the Wall Street Journal Health Blog.


In its original estimate, the Congressional Budget Office did not include the cost of proposed additional programs ranging from a breast-health awareness campaign to several Indian health programs, which have discretionary spending.
