Rep. Paul Ryan Joins Republicans Calling for Sebelius to Resign

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has told ABC News he thinks HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius should step down over the technical errors that have plagued the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act's health insurance exchanges.

On a conference call with ABC News, Rep. Ryan said Secretary Sebelius should be held accountable for the issues that have plagued the federal exchange website, HealthCare.gov. Since the site launched earlier this month, it has encountered glitches such as people not being able to create accounts on HealthCare.gov, dysfunctional drop down tools and the site crashing due to high traffic.

Rep. Ryan has asked the HHS leader to provide more information about a "tech surge" the Obama administration has announced as a remedy for the errors, according to the report.

In response, Republican lawmakers such as Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) have called for Secretary Sebelius to leave the post she's held since 2009. However, she reportedly has no intention of leaving, and the Obama administration has expressed full confidence in her.

She plans to testify before the House Energy and Commerce Committee next week concerning the technical difficulties the healthcare law's rollout has encountered, although she will not attend the committee's hearing tomorrow concerning the "troubled" launch.
