Radisphere, which provides radiology services to community hospitals, has announced it will implement a wide-ranging quality initiative through 2012, according to a news release.
"The Final Read on Quality" initiative will help hospitals improve patient care and radiology performance through ongoing client quality efforts that also help fulfill Joint Commission requirements for ongoing professional practice evaluation.
The first issue of focus for the initiative is reducing radiation dosage for imaging patients. Radisphere plans implement new imaging protocols with its clients to address concerns of the Joint Commission in a recent Sentinel Event Alert about the radiation risks associated with diagnostic imaging.
"Improving quality will always be a priority for providers," said Radisphere's Chief Innovation Officer, Clinical Director of Neuroradiology and Co-founder Frank Seidelmann, DO. "These education programs allow us to be proactive and help clients be even more effective in their own efforts to achieve higher quality, efficiency and better care."
"The Final Read on Quality" initiative coincides with National Healthcare Quality Week, which highlights the influence of healthcare quality professionals in achieving improved patient care outcomes.
