Willamette Falls Hospital in Oregon City, Ore., received state approval to move forward with its plans to merge with Providence Health & Services, according to a report in the Portland Business Journal.
On Oct. 1, the 91-bed hospital will change its name to Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center, and its 800 staff members will become employees of Providence, according to the report.
No money was exchanged in the merger.
Four years of operating losses prompted Willamette Falls to look into a merger or partnership, although the hospital reported a $650,000 operating gain in fiscal year 2007-2008.
