Springfield, Ill.-based Memorial Health System has received approval to build a $60 million medical office building, according to a State Journal-Register report.
The 132,000-square-foot facility will house Memorial's Springfield Clinic physicians and will be connected by a pedestrian walkway to the existing Springfield Clinic 1st building.
The new building could accommodate 70 additional physicians and at least 100 additional nurses and support staff. The clinic currently employs 100 nurse practitioners and physician assistants and 240 physicians — 90 of which joined the clinic over the past two years.
Barring delays from zoning changes, construction will begin this spring with a projected completion date of October 2014.
