Maryland officials have announced the state will delay the launch of its small business insurance exchange until April to allow for repairs to marylandhealthconnection.gov, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal.
The state health insurance exchange website has experienced technical problems, similar to the federal exchange site, HealthCare.gov, according to the report. The state is working with contractor Noridian Healthcare Solutions LLC to make the site run faster and more reliably, Rebecca Pearce executive director of Maryland’s exchange, told the Journal.
As of last Friday, about 4,500 people have enrolled in private health insurance coverage or Medicaid under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act through the state exchange website, and more than 50,000 accounts have been created, according to the report.
