Lawmakers to Vote on Preventing PPACA Implementation

Congressional lawmakers will vote this week on a bill that would prevent the Internal Revenue Service from implementing the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

The consideration of this bill — which was introduced by Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) — will mark the 40th time the House has voted on whether or not to repeal part of the PPACA. Dr. Price's legislation would prohibit the Secretary of the Treasury from enforcing the PPACA.

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) released a statement calling the bill and the upcoming vote a waste of time.

"This 40th vote is a vote to take away affordable healthcare coverage and raise taxes for millions of Americans," Ms. Pelosi said. "This is the reach and the meaning of the Republicans’ repeal-only agenda, and the American people deserve better."
