Wishard Health Services in Indianapolis is obtaining land for a $754 million replacement hospital, following Marion County voters' overwhelming approval for issuing the debt needed for the project, according to a report by the Indianapolis Star.
The financing proposal, on the Nov. 3 county election ballot, won the approval of 84 percent of voters.
Following the vote, officials at Wishard, a subsidiary of Marion County Health and Hospital Corp., signed a previously agreed-upon land swap with Indiana University, giving Wishard 27 acres in exchange for the site where Wishard Memorial Hospital now stands.
