The board of trustees at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia has approved plans for an extension to the hospital's Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine, according to a Daily Pennsylvanian report.
The $102 million project will allow the hospital to have an additional 225,000 square feet of space for ambulatory and diagnostic services and an additional 520,000 square feet of space for patient care, research and faculty offices, according to the report. The project will also allow the neurology, neurosurgery and neuropsychiatry departments to be located in the same area.
Construction is slated to begin winter of next year, with a project completion date of winter or spring 2014.
