Minnesota's United Hospital Plans $18.5M Surgery Center Expansion

United Hospital in St. Paul, Minn., is planning an $18.5 million expansion of its surgery center, including a renovation of its operating rooms, according to a Pioneer Press report.

The project will reduce the total number of ORs from 20 to 18 to be able to increase the size of each OR from 350 square feet to 600 square feet. The surgery center will expand by relocating a lab and by using space the Children's Hospital is vacating to move into a new tower.

United Hospital plans to spend $15 million on construction, $1 million on design and $2.5 million on fixtures, furniture and equipment, according to the report. The project is scheduled to be completed in April 2013.
