Hospital Fundraisers Should Include Small Businesses, International Activities

Fundraisers for not-for-profit hospitals and health systems should be aware of the growing importance of small businesses and international healthcare activities, according to release from the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy.

The association's Emerging Trends study said small businesses could provide hospitals with hands-on support, such as co-sponsoring wellness programs.

On the international front, fundraisers should embrace cross-border and multinational alliances spurred by developments such as telemedicine, cross-border cooperation and medical tourism.

It predicted that immigrant households will become a new source of philanthropy and recommended that fundraisers reach out to medical facilities in immigrants' native lands.
