Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center in Davenport has begun its $9.5 million expansion, according to a Ledger report.
The project includes moving obstetrics and women's surgical services to the currently vacant 31,000-square-foot fifth floor and replacing their vacated space with a specialized elderly unit and 14-room pediatric unit — changes that will allow for 35 new beds for observation and an additional operating room. The expansion will also increase the number of birthing units from six to 10.
