Most of Southeast Michigan's hospital systems have seen improved profits recently, in the wake of a stronger economy, greater expense controls and stock market improvements, according to a report in Crain's Detroit Business.
According to the report, finance officers at William Beaumont Hospitals, Trinity Health, St. John Providence Health System and Oakwood Healthcare predict 2010 will also be a stronger year financially.
In addition to seeing improved investment values and operating income, many of the Detroit-area hospitals are beginning to jump-start capital projects that had been put on hold in 2009 due to the faltering economy.
