Democrats Gear Up to Attack GOP's Push to Slash Medicaid

Democratic Congressional leaders have rallied group of supporters to determine a strategy for combating Republicans' plan to cut Medicaid funding by $750 billion and transition it to a block-grant program for states, according to a report by The Hill.

Staff members assigned to health issues from the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the Senate Finance Committee, leadership staff from the House and Senate and representatives from Democratic Governors' offices briefed several dozen supporters yesterday and called them to action to defeat the Republicans' plan, according to the report.

Specifics of the Democrats strategy were not released, but supporters at the meeting said the public can expect to hear how the planned cuts would hurt beneficiaries and shift costs to states, according to the report.
