Putnam, Conn.-based Day Kimball Healthcare announced the kick-off of construction of its $10 million new emergency department at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam.
The new Townsend Emergency Medical Center will house 24 all-private treatment rooms, including one double sized trauma room and rooms designed for behavioral health patients.
The new facility will provide expanded space for patients and healthcare providers. The current ED was designed to accommodate 18,000 annual patient visits. Today, the ED has approximately 30,000 annual visits, and hospital officials predict volume will increase.
The project is scheduled to be completed by the fall of 2014.
