Through the end of October, roughly 2.65 million Medicare beneficiaries have saved more than $1.5 billion on prescription drugs through discounts in the Medicare Part D "donut hole" coverage gap, according to a CMS news release.
Acting CMS Administrator Marilyn Tavenner attributed the savings, which average about $569 per person, to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
Additionally, more than 24.2 million people with Medicare have received at least one free preventive benefit through the PPACA through the end of November, according to the release.
