The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has delayed the addition of data on hospital-acquired conditions to its Hospital Compare website, citing an error in the CMS data file used to calculate the HAC measures, according to an AHA News report.
The agency reportedly identified a discrepancy between hospital-submitted claims data and the CMS data file. CMS said future hospital-specific reports will include patient-level data as well as hospital-level results and advised hospitals to disregard hospital-specific reports distributed on Sept. 16.
The AHA had urged CMS not to publish the HAC data because of inadequate time for hospitals to review the information, among other reasons.
