Back in February, CEP America's Steven Kim, MD, emergency department medical director at Riverside (Calif.) Community Hospital had just completed the Surf City Half Marathon in Huntington Beach, Calif., when he noticed a fellow runner had collapsed.
In a news post on its website, CEP America salutes Dr. Kim's life-saving efforts. After determining that the runner's heart had stopped, he performed CPR and restarted her heart with the use of a defibrillator.
According to the post, "Dr. Kim had been planning on skipping this Surf City race but his wife ran it so he joined her. When Dr. Kim finished the race in under two hours, he stayed at the finish line to wait for his wife."
