Carolinas HealthCare System in Charlotte, N.C., has announced that it has received approval from the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation for its plans to replace the existing Anson Community Hospital in Wadesboro, N.C., with a new facility.
The new facility is expected to cost $20 million and will be 46,800 square feet. It will allow for a more efficient use of patient beds, emergency and surgical services as well as primary care services, according to the health system. Also included in the design is a central nursing unit for the entire facility along with pharmacy and laboratory services. It is expected to open in 2014.
The existing Anson Community Hospital will continue operating during the planning and construction of the new campus.
