Having efficient facilities, be they old or brand-new, can make a health system's hospitals safer and more cost-efficient, something Baptist Memorial Healthcare in Memphis, Tenn., knows firsthand.
As the health system made plans to construct a new hospital in Jonesboro, Ark., it partnered with Johnson Controls to reduce construction costs, integrate building, business and clinical systems and "maximize the use of the equipment and the items that we put into that building," Bill Tuttle, vice president of planning for Baptist Memorial, said in a Johnson Controls video.
In addition to driving building efficiency in a new facility, Baptist Memorial Health Care looked for efficiencies in its existing buildings. Through energy efficiency solutions provided by Johnson Controls, the health system saves more than $1.5 million a year.
"With the help of Johnson Controls, we really have been able to look at each one of our processes and ensure that it is maximally efficient to deliver that type of great care to our patients," Jason Little, Baptist Memorial's executive vice president and COO, said in the video.
