Auburn (N.Y.) Memorial Hospital has changed its name to Auburn Community Hospital, according to a hospital news release.
The change in name is intended to reflect "stronger connections" the hospital is developing through its communities, and the hospital says it is unrelated to its exploration of a possible strategic affiliation with Rochester General Health System.
"Our local community is a critical part of the life of this hospital," Scott Berlucchi, hospital president and CEO, said in the news release. "We want our name to reflect a sense of that ownership by the population we serve."
