AHA Participates in White House Rural Health Council Meeting

The American Hospital Association met with the White House Rural Council and rural health leaders in a meeting to discuss ways to enhance federal healthcare programs serving rural communities, according to an AHA News Now report.

Leaders in rural health shared their experience and concerns with key White House and administration officials, including HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. During the meeting, Sec. Sebelius announced plans to provide $10.4 million in grants to expand 70 rural health centers.
