Oak Brook, Ill.-based Advocate Health Care has received the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center's Governors' Sustainability award, one of 21 Illinois companies recognized for their commitment to sustainability practices.
The award recognized Advocate's "green team" program. Dozens of these teams work within the system's facilities to create awareness and identify and implement ways to improve sustainability.
"Going green has moved from novelty to necessity within our healthcare ministry," Mary Larsen, manager of environmental stewardship at Advocate, said in a statement. "Our goal of creating the most efficient, least wasteful processes has a direct impact on patient care and good health outcomes."
