An East St. Louis, Ill., woman filed a class-action lawsuit March 4 against healthcare information management company Ciox Health, claiming the company overcharged her and others for medical records, according to the Madison Record.
Alice Best is accusing Ciox Health of common law fraud and violation of the Illinois Consumer Fraud Act.
In the lawsuit, Ms. Best states she was one of many individuals overcharged for her health records. In September 2018, she was charged $33.04 for her records when the fee should have been $6.50, according to the lawsuit.
Ms. Best, represented by a Chicago law firm, is seeking a trial by jury and more than $50,000 in compensation.
