Greensburg (Pa.) police tracked down a woman April 25 who allegedly stole an unconscious patient's credit card at Greensburg-based Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital and made $4,000 worth of purchases, according to TribLive.
The 55-year-old woman falsely identified herself as the patient's daughter to enter his room in the hospital's intensive care unit Feb. 8. She then stole the patient's credit card and used it to buy alcohol, groceries and pay medical expenses at roughly 50 locations in Pennsylvania.
The patient only recently found the credit card thefts after being discharged from the hospital and seeing his bill, according to Greensburg Police Capt. Robert Stafford.
Police identified the woman with the help of hospital security and staff. She is charged with burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, receiving stolen property, access device fraud, identity theft, and criminal use of a communication facility.
