Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, N.Y., has agreed to a $7 million settlement to resolve civil fraud allegations that the hospital submitted false claims to Medicaid for nearly 10 years.
WMC allegedly billed Medicaid for outpatient mental health services without the proper documentation required by Medicaid from August 2001 through June 2010. The hospital allegedly knew about the improper documentation, and until at least 2010, management failed to conduct any systematic audits.
The Manhattan U.S. Attorney's Office claims WMC did not return the Medicaid reimbursements despite knowing they were overpayments.
