UC Medical Center in Cincinnati allegedly misplaced the remains of stillborn twins, FOX19 reported.
The incident occurred in November. Tori Royston, the babies' mother, told the news station Dec. 21 she was waiting on DNA testing to confirm that remains found by hospital staff earlier in the week were her twins.
On Dec. 23, a spokesperson for UC Health confirmed to Becker's that they "have the fetal remains and are working closely with the family toward a resolution."
In a separate incident more than seven years ago, the hospital misplaced the remains of Amber Morris' son, who died shortly after birth. Ms. Morris told the news station "they searched the landfill for him," but his remains were never located.
"Out of respect and care for those involved in the 2015 incident, we are unable to comment on the matter due to federal HIPAA privacy laws and confidentiality agreements among all parties," UC Health told Becker's.
"UC Health is committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality, care and safety for our patients, and we continuously review and revise our internal processes to support our mission," the spokesperson said.
