Hospital employees, former patients and visitors of Summerlin Hospital in Las Vegas have filed a suit alleging hospital missteps exposed them to tuberculosis, according to a report in the Las Vegas Sun.
The lawsuit contend the hospital did not have proper infection controls in place and did not respond properly following the death of two former patients from undiagnosed tuberculosis, according to the report.
The suit currently names eight plaintiffs but could include more, including some who have since tested positive for tuberculosis, reports the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Summerlin spokeswoman Gretchen Papez told the Review-Journal, "Although we have not yet seen the lawsuit, Summerlin Hospital intends to defend this case vigorously and looks forward to our opportunity to present all of the facts of this matter in court."
