Physician wounded by shooter at Texas health center

A physician was injured July 25 by a gunman who fired inside of a Texas medical building, Fox News reported.

Police received a call around 12:17 p.m. to Cedar Hill, Texas-based Methodist Family Health Center about a person with a gun in the building. A minute later, the dispatcher heard a gunshot, Spectrum News 1 reported. Police arrived to find a physician laying on the ground in front of the center and witnessed the suspected shooter get into a car and drive away.

Police chased the suspect for about a block before he crashed into another car, CBS News reported. The Cedar Hill Police Chief Ely Reyes said multiple officers were on scene at the crash and observed the suspect with a long gun. Five officers "discharged their firearms at the suspect," he said, and the wounded suspect was removed from his vehicle. Officers began life-saving measures until medics arrived and the suspect was transported to Methodist Dallas Medical Center, where he was in stable but critical condition.

The injured physician was also taken to an area hospital and is in stable condition, according to the report.
