Physician, chiropractor convicted of fraud scheme

A federal jury convicted a physician and a chiropractor of billing Medicaid for millions in medically unnecessary urinalysis testing for their patients.

William Siefert, MD, 69, of Dayton, Ohio, and Timothy Ehn, 50, of Union, Ky., orchestrated the fraud scheme through the Northern Kentucky Center for Pain Relief, according to a March 23 Justice Department news release. Mr. Ehn was the owner of the Florence, Ky.-based pain clinic. 

Both men were convicted of healthcare fraud, according to the release. Mr. Ehn was also convicted of conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud. 

Dr. Siefert faces up to 10 years in prison and Mr. Ehn faces a maximum of 20 years in prison, according to the release. They are both scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 20.
