Pennsylvania's attorney general charged a nurse for neglecting and assaulting an 80-year-old nursing home patient.
Eliut Lopez-Enriquez, RN, allegedly assaulted a male resident at Harrisburg, Pa.-based The Gardens at Blue Ridge in March 2022 while changing the patient's wound dressings, according to a state investigation.
The assault caused the patient extreme pain and a higher risk of infection, the attorney general's office said. The man was hospitalized for multiple medical conditions and died less than two months later.
Mr. Lopez-Enriquez, 56, was taken into custody Aug. 15 and charged with neglect of a care-dependent person, abuse of a care-dependent person and simple assault. His nursing license remains active.
