NextCare, an urgent care company based in Mesa, Ariz., has agreed to pay $10 million to settle federal and state allegations of billing for unnecessary tests and inflating billing.
NextCare allegedly submitted false claims to Medicare, TRICARE and the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program. It also allegedly submitted improper claims to the Medicaid programs of Colorado, Virginia, Texas, North Carolina and Arizona.
The company allegedly billed for unnecessary allergy, H1N1 and respiratory panel testing. The government also claimed NextCare inflated billings for urgent care medical services.
The release did not include the specific time span or dollar amounts of the alleged billing activity.
