A New York City physician agreed to pay $1.3 million to settle allegations he overbilled Medicare for services provided to nursing home residents.
Arun Arora, MD, allegedly billed Medicare for critical care services to nursing home residents from 2019 to 2023 when he provided only routine care, according to a Sept. 21 Justice Department news release.
In addition to the monetary settlement, Dr. Arora entered into an integrity agreement with the HHS Office of Inspector General that imposes obligations meant to ensure he complies with Medicare rules and regulations going forward, according to the release.
aThe settlement resolves the allegations and there is no admission of or determination of liability, the release said.
