Healthcare CFO claims he was fired after questioning ambulance billing

The former CFO of Brewster Ambulance Services accused the company of firing him after he tried to expose fraudulent Medicare billing, according to The Patriot Ledger.

The lawsuit, filed by Brendan Cameron, claims Weymouth, Mass.-based Brewster Ambulance Services charged Medicare for unnecessary ambulance rides to dialysis appointments. Mr. Cameron said the ambulance company was facing financial pressure and continued to bill Medicare for rides even when patients didn't meet the standard for transport.

The CEO of Brewster Ambulance Services called the allegations "absolutely untrue." He told The Patriot Ledger that Mr. Cameron filed the lawsuit because he was "disgruntled." The ambulance company plans to countersue, the CEO said.
