Paul Cardwell, former CEO of Powell (Wyo.) Valley Healthcare has been indicted on 15 counts included mail and wire fraud and money laundering, according to a Powell Tribune report.
Mr. Cardwell was allegedly involved in a scheme to embezzle money from the hospital, which resulted in financial losses for the organization.
HealthTech Management, which manages the hospital, sued Mr. Cardwell earlier this year, claiming he had embezzled nearly $850,000 through a scheme that involved paying an Indiana company to recruit physicians to Powell. The suit claims that the company did not perform recruiting activities and paid Mr. Cardwell a kickback for the funds, according to the report.
