Former pharmacy president pleads guilty to $32M in kickbacks

The former president of New Jersey pharmacies was sentenced to three years of prison after pleading guilty to a three-year healthcare fraud scheme amounting to $32 million.

From 2017 to 2020, Elan Yaish, 54, and other conspirators worked with marketing companies to discover Medicare and Tricare beneficiaries and target them with expensive medications. Mr. Yaish and his pharmacies had kickback arrangements for "exorbitant reimbursements," according to the Justice Department.

He was also sentenced to three years of supervised release and ordered to pay restitution of $32 million.
