A former Kentucky state representative was sentenced to 25 months in prison after pleading guilty to his role in a $2.7 million billing fraud scheme, the Courier Journal reported Oct. 3.
Robert Goforth, 46, admitted in May that a pharmacy he owned billed insurance programs, including Medicare and Medicaid, for prescriptions that customers didn't pick up. The pharmacy then multiplied profits by putting those medications back on the shelf and selling them multiple times.
Mr. Goforth was also ordered to serve two years of supervised release, pay a $10,000 fine and $2.7 million in restitution.
