A former nurse at multiple hospitals was arrested May 16 on allegations of harassment and cyberstalking a man he met on a dating app, and harassing former coworkers.
An FBI agent accused 32-year-old Kevin Cruz of yearslong harassment toward a man he worked with and met on Grindr. Mr. Cruz has worked at Chicago-based Rush University Medical Center, a Mount Sinai hospital and an Elmhurst hospital, according to court documents. An investigation at Rush about allegations of this alleged behavior resulted in Mr. Cruz's termination in April 2022.
After the Oak Park, Ill., resident was fired, he allegedly sent "unwanted, repeated and concerning electronic messages" to former Rush coworkers.
The plaintiff said Mr. Cruz sent these messages to "voice his displeasure with his termination, vowing to fight in the wake of his termination and seeking his former co-workers support in attempting to regain his employment. … Because of this behavior, Rush and [a hospital employee] filed a workplace protection emergency restraining order" against Mr. Cruz, according to court documents.
Mr. Cruz is scheduled to appear in court May 22.
