A developer has filed suit against Charleston, S.C.-based Fetter Healthcare Network, alleging the healthcare provider failed to pay rent and renovation costs for space at a former naval hospital in North Charleston, S.C., reports The Post and Courier.
Charleston County entered into an agreement with Chicora Gardens Holdings to lease and renovate three floors of Chicora Life Center. The county planned to move several government health services offices to the building, including Fetter Healthcare. However, Charleston County canceled plans to lease from Chicora in March after it determined Chicora's renovation plans were behind schedule.
Chicora Life Center filed suit against Fetter May 6, alleging the provider failed to move into the space in January. Chicora is suing Fetter for $60,000 in unpaid rent and $311,294 in renovation costs. Chicora has not filed suit against Charleston County.
Neither Chicora's lawyers nor Fetter Healthcare officials have released a public statement.
