California Dept. of Public Health Finds No Septecimia-Related Errors by Prime Healthcare

The California Department of Public Health has found no deficiencies or errors by Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare Services related to the diagnosis or coding of septicemia at its hospitals, according to a Prime Healthcare news release.

The Department's investigation followed allegations made nearly a year ago by the Service Employees International Union that Prime may have overbilled Medicare by $18 million for septicemia-related claims. The Department did note certain issues with follow-up care, but they have since been addressed and corrected, according to Prime.
